Résidence étudiants hors-site, Rennes
The Villejean campus of Rennes 2 University will host 250 students as part of the UNIR project, which includes a CROUS student residence and a nursery. The residence is spread over three compact levels: a double-height base housing communal areas (lobby, laundry room, CROUS Market with cafeteria, sandwich production, and bicycle storage); seven levels of housing and a sports rooftop on the eighth floor, with a capacity of 300 people. The nursery is self-contained, with its own garden. We have invested heavily in prefabrication through mixed construction methods that are 100% off-site, from the concrete frame to the timber-framed facades and bathroom and kitchen units. Aesthetically, the four chamfered corners of the building lighten the overall appearance, and the durable zinc facades are enlivened by sloping spandrels that play with the light.
